We've both been surprised by how much we have loved Rio. It's even more stunning than we had thought. It's been very hot and full of other tourists and even that hasn't put us off. We went up to see the statue of Cristo Redentor and it was a scrum of people trying to get photos, but it is so beautiful. Sugarloaf mountain at sunset and was a more mellow experience, watching the sun go down behind Cristo and seeing the city (and him) light up as the sun went down. It was even more mellow for Kerry as I went off and got us a sundowner. She has tried caipirinhas, Brazilian cocktails, a couple of times and developed taste for them. I was served by a young lesbian who multiplied the amount of alcohol in it so that Kerry ended up with 2 glasses full of a delicious cocktail. She had a lovely time.
We're getting ready to fly home tomorrow and looking forward to seeing people and Syd. The trip has been amazing, it's a beautiful part of the world and we're already thinking about next time.
