One more week to go till we hit the US ! Suzanne, Nikita and myself are heading back to the States, with the main trip highlight being touring the iconic Route 66. At this stage we still have stand by seats out of Auckland having booked staff travel with Air NZ
We plan to have a couple of 'lazy' days in Los Angeles , collecting the all American Chrysler 200 rental car from Alamo. An early start Saturday morning, heading to glitzy Las Vegas where we have booked a Cirque du Soleil show 'LOVE' themed to the Beatles music on Saturday night. A couple of days later we hit the road again ( Get your motor running - head out on the highway ......... you know the song ? ) with a detour off Route 66 to the Grand Canyon. Over the next 13 days we will travel what we can of Route 66 ably guided by the popular book - EZ66 Guide For Travellers through the States of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois arriving at Chicago and the official start of Route 66 ( Yes I know we did it the opposite way , but it's still the Route 66 ! )
We will drop off the rental car at Chicago Midway Airport and fly to Buffalo, staying a couple of days at Niagara Falls. We then take a train to New York City where we have 2 full days exploring the Big Apple. The first day we have booked in a guided tour taking in all the primo sights - Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial pools and the Empire State Building. The second day is our self guided tour and we plan to cycle around Central Park, tackle the subway system, walk over the Brooklyn Bridge visit Times Square and generally soak up all what the Big Apple has to offer.
Our stay in NY is short lived and we head to La Garudia Airport where I kiss Suzanne goodbye back home to NZ and work.
Nikita and I fly down to Orlando, Florida where we indulge in the southern States warmth for 6 full days, living it up at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and a spot in couple of day trips to Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral and the Everglades and Miami.
Sadly Nikita and I must move on and we fly back to LA but alas our touring is not yet over as we fly back to Las Vegas for 3 more days of fun the highlight being the Shania Twain concert on Saturday night !
Home finally beckons and we should be back in Christchurch a couple of days before Labour week.
Hope you enjoy my travel blog and sightseeing pictures !
Cheers, Tony

Keefa Safe travels Tony & all. Looking forward to following the adventure. Enjoy.
Jen and Roger Holiday sounds GREAT!! I didn't realise Suzanne meant THIS September when she was talking about it at family mid-winter. So.... another travelogue to print off for the armchair travellers. Definitely not complaining though, just wish we were there - or anywhere....... Lucky you though, you'll be away from the NZ election crap that has been going on. Have a great time. BTW, top marks for the blog website. I'm very impressed.
Sue and Ian Jackson Wow... what a great trip! All the best and take care!
Kerr Clan Safe travels team - looks like an awesome trip. Looking forward to the photos.
Peter and Chris If you get time when at Las Vegas - visit the Red Rocks Canyon. About 25 - 30 minutes west of LV and well worth a visit. Buy an Annual Pass ($80US) that covers National Parks, Monuments and lots of Federal Historic Places etc rather than paying $25 for each location.
Jill and John Looking forward to seeing more photo's of the scenery
