We awoke the following morning, some more heavy headed than others. Joel missed breakfast & just about made the little motorboat that took us to the shore of Tongue Bay for a morning walk. We walked up to a lookout over the various beaches, but the weather didn't exactly make the view amazing. Whitehaven Beach was pretty much all underwater due to the rainfall, which was a shame. The sand there is 98% pure silica sand & is the finest, purest white sand anywhere in the world. We climbed back down & went for a stroll along the beach in our lovely stinger suits. We bumped into Lou & Sally on the beach, who were there having a stroll with the people on their boat. After everyone was fed up with the rain, we headed back to the boat.
We sailed around to a very small beach to do a bit of snorkelling & lo & behold, the sun made an appearance!! The snorkelling was pretty poor compared to our earlier exploits at the Great Barrier Reef. The water was far murkier & unless the crew threw out some food, the fish were hard to find. Most of the girls gave up quickly & went to top up their tans with the little bit of sun we had been blessed with, whereas myself & another English guy decided to move rocks & change the course of the island's waterfall. We succeeded in getting the water to flow all across the beach, so we probably contributed in destroying a small island! Whoops! Joel on the other hand, carried on snorkelling & apparently fell asleep whilst doing so, he woke up just floating around face down in the water!!!
With the sudden change of weather, the crew decided to take us to a deserted island that had a lot more space. Once again the girls topped up their tans & the boys had a beach football game. It was England Vs The Rest of the World & unfortunately it ended up 1-1. One of the crew bought over 2 platters of nachos & dip for us to munch on & after our game of footy it was much needed. However, in all the excitement the German guy came sprinting over & managed to kick sand all over one of the platters. Good skills!
That evening we moored up & of course the drinking games then commenced. The pick of the bunch was a game of Ring of Fire, that got quite messy, but everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Unfortunately for the German guy, it was his turn to drink too much. He climbed out of his bunk & decided to go to the toilet all over the Norwegian couple's bunk.....whilst she was in it!!!! He then got back into bed oblivious to what he had done, before promptly falling face first out of his top bunk! Earlier in the day he was asking the group about the bad weather, but because of his accent he sounded like he was saying 'bed wetter'. His nights antics prompted me to write on the ships whiteboard 'Kevin, Bad Weather or Bed Wetter?' much to everyones amusement.
