New year couplets
The top line reads: "May all your hopes be fulfilled", The inner couplet (read right first) means: "The zither and books are moistened after the rain/the brush and ink are fragrant in the wind." The outer couplets read: "Many-coloured lucky clouds abound throughout the universe/A beautiful atmosphere of seasonal change fills Cuandi(xia) [the village]." All rather lovely. And I was glad to see they were written in traditional characters instead of all that Commie simplified nonsense.
