Kia Orana!!!! (Hello is Cook island lingo)
well......what can i say! i never thought id ever find heaven whilst my hearts still ticking but i think i have! this place is unbelievable!
population of 8000, about 200 cars, 2 buses and probably 8000 scooters! you can drive around the island in about 30 mins on my scooter doing 20mph! yeah i have a moped to kill myself on but dont worry mum! ill be fine! So Rarotonga is my home for 2 weeks, i couldnt think of any better place to be right now! me and adam landed after a 9.5 hour flight from LA, i slept for 7 hours drewlling on adams shoulder! we land to the heat of 6am so around 24 degrees! we head stright down to Muri lagoon where we are staying at Vara's beach house! the beach house is awesome, its basically, i house........ on the beach......! you would never of guessed right! but the beach is white sand, palm trees and water which is constently about 24 degrees!
1st day we just kinda take in where we are and natural beauty of the place! we do however go and get our cook islands driving licences, we had to do a test, few left turns a round-a-bout and that was it! so im a fully fledged cook islands licence holder now! watch out people! so we bomb off around the island just looking around, checking out the beaches and few shops! then we just go and hit the beach!
the pace of life here is practically backwards which is perfect for me! i just lay in a hamoc under palm trees chilling. each morning i wake up to the sound of waves lapping at the front deck, go and get myself some cereal and go and sit in the sea and eat my wheatabix!
we have managed to do somethings though, spear fishing, kayaking across coral lagoons, snorkling, climbing palms and eating fresh coconut and bananas! god its painful writing this......... we have met some great people down here too, everyone just stopping off here before new zealand.
missed out on the popular octapus hunting over here though yesterday, i wont go into great detail about this one, however it looks crazy!
nightlife on the island is pretty cool, had some crazy nights out and even crazier taxi rides on the back of pick ups! usually roll in around 1am and hit the beach for a spot of streaking and swimming!
not really much else you can write about really, i mean i could go on and on about how beautiful and amazing this place is and just to make you jealous but im missing out on some quality sunbathing time and the hamoc is looking rather inviting!!!
Game fishing tomorrow morning, hopfully some tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi or even some Marlin for tea perhaps, see what we can catch!
interesting fact for you here before i go, did you know more people die each year from coconuts landing on them then people die from shark attacks!!!! you see, fountain of knowledge, you learn something new with me everyday!
