Today was a crazy traveling day. We left Okinawa and flew back to Tokyo. We made a miscalculation on the time of our flight, and ended up racing through the airport to make it on time. Us running through the airport to catch our flight? Hard to believe, I know. We also decided to take the train to our hotel, and that was a fun adventure! We saw the countryside and inner city. There are rice fields as far as the eye can see and then wall to wall buildings.
It is really beautiful.
The kids got a kick out of seeing all of the school kids in their uniforms. Malikai and Jeff had an interesting
conversation with some middle school
kids. When Jeff said we were from
Texas, the kids said "Texas Rangers!!". There are baseball fields everywhere here and everywhere we go, we see kids playing or in uniform, or wearing a
US baseball team shirt.
Kylie had to go to the bathroom in a traditional Japanese bathroom at one of the train stations, which is basically a porcelain rectangle hole in the ground. She kind of freaked out. I tried to prepare them for it, but I guess you can't really prepare anyone for that joy.
The train was a 90 minute trek, but it would have taken us 2 hours via bus, so it worked out just great. At the last station, we all had to carry our bags up 4 flights of stairs. That was rough, but we all made it, with Malikai even getting
some help from a pretty Japanese girl. We all had to laugh at that, he was bigger than her!!
We are staying at another really awesome hotel. Our kids are getting so spoiled. Adam did an awesome job hooking up our lodging! I am not sure what they are going to do the next time that we stay at a normal place where they all have to share a bed!! After we got settled, we went to dinner at a local restaurant. We chose that spot because you could order with pictures of the food, which always helps. So we were getting ready to order when Jeff found an English menu. It's a good thing that he did because we almost ordered chicken gizzards, hearts and liver. Luckily we changed it up and ended up with something we could all eat.
