We left San Diego on the 8th June and headed to Palm Springs. Gradually we started to notice a change in the scenery as the buildings were replaced by rocks and desert like features. Upon arrival there was also a noticeable change in temperature - it was damned hot - but then we were in a desert.
The hotel suite was a great size and gave us flexibility to spread out. Also we had a nice balcony where we could sit and catch the late afternoon sun. There has definitely been a shift in our attitude to the travels - it feels more like a holiday now. We checked out the gym facilities and then headed to the pool for a bit of relaxation in the sun. That evening we found a great Italian restaurant where we sat outside (Al Dente).
One of the days we decided to head out in the car and visited El Paseo in Palm Desert which contained so we could take Steph's phone to the Apple shop to be looked at. It's been playing up for a while and we had hoped they could do something about it. Sadly they were very unhelpful and we left in the same frustrated position.
However, Steph was able to buy 3 dresses for 60 quid so that was all good!
From Palm Springs we also visited the aerial tramway which takes you to the top of the mountain, to an elevation in excess of 6000 feet. As the tram climbs the car floor rotates so you get 360 degree views.
It was amazing scenery to be honest, barren but dramatic. You could see for miles as it was a clear day. Also, the temperature was a lot cooler at the top. In Palm Springs we had been sweltering in 90 + degree temperatures but it was noticeably cooler at the top, probably in the 70's which was a welcome break.
Other than this we spent most days relaxing by the pool and going to the gym. We also made the most of the hotels Happy Hour between 5-7pm!
