Well I crossed the border today (and saw 3 motorbikes with crates of rats on the back - yep dinner) and am now sitting in a squashy internet cafe off the main drag of Phnom Penh.
My last couple of days in Vietname were spent around Saigon (officially Ho Chi Minh City, but everyone calls it Saigon). That really an exciting place - the traffic is more insane than usual and crossing the street is an experience but apart from that there isn't a lot going on. We did a walking tour of the city that included a visit to the post office!
What was of interest though was the War Museum, with remnants, photos and other assorted information about Vietnam War, or as they call it the 'War of American Aggression', (the name hasn't caught on cause no one would know which war that is - thats right, I've got an opinion and I'm not afraid to use it). It was a fairly sobering and depressing experience, but considering my knowledge in this area (ie History in general) is pretty weak I'm glad to be learning about it.
We also visited the Cu Chi tunnels, another war remnant, this time an extensive tunnel network built by the Viet Cong. I was proud to be able to fit in the tiny tunnel entrance while other 'larger' people struggled to get half way. Walking through the tunnels was fun toom but definately not for the claustrophobic.
The rest of my time in 'Nam was taking a tour of the Mekong Delta that took us to the border and through to my present location. This was probably one of my favourite parts of Vietnam travelling through tiny waterways with houses on each sides, waving kids and a top notch lunch to boot.
So thats it for Vietnam - graet place, (generally) great people and (generally) great food. I highly recommend it, and if you ever get a chance, take an Intrepid tour - cheapest around by far.
