We've made it home safe and sound. A million thanks to Tim Jaxon for his flexibility and help in getting us home, and Christopher Pomeroy for his loving care of our cats and home. Looks like luck while not with us today was not completely against us either. Per my last post our flight had been cancelled and the next flight was probably going to be 10:45 pm or 6pm. But after giving our United Mileage memberships to the clerk things changed. Probably due to the fact that Phil has tons of miles from his SFO to La Jolla gaming days. She put us on the priority waiting list for the next overbooked flight. There were 25 people on the waiting list. Ours were the last seats assigned! Phew! Luckily we got the 2:30 flight out and are now home. While waiting for our "waiting list" opportunity we met a couple that had been on the HUMONGOUS cruise ship that docked in Auckland this morning before we left...funny that! They saw my NZ tee-shirt and unconscious Phil's NZ hat and asked if we'd had any trouble with cancellations. Apparently a whole slew of people were displaced because United couldn't get their act together.. Any way... were home now and have approx 700 more photos to download and organize (FUN!) So this should be a good site. We've decided that we're definitely going back again and again and would love to someday live in NZ thus the journal title change. We'll also use this for other trips we're planning although right now all I can think about is the very soft and comfy bed and purring cats waiting for me upstairs.
