Namaste from Pokhara, a beautifully calm town 200K east of Kathmandu. We were preparing ourselves for a pretty hefty 8hr bus trip, however considering there were four of us (+ driver) on a bus for 14 we had a nice chilled ride up and only took about 6 hours!
Pokhara itself is in the foot hills of the Annapurna mountain range and is what i imagined Nepal to be like, rather than a compact tourist mecca that is Kathmandu! Saying that after we met our (small) group we managed to get a little culture into us and visited a place nicknamed, "monkey temple," and yes thats right there were moneky's left right and centre. It was a pretty cool place with a hilltop view over Katmandu, which helped put into perspective the size of the city.
Getting back to Pokhara, we had a little stroll along the huge lake next to the town and then sat with some drinks and cake....note to self chocolate crumble is BIG and you really don't need the bigger portion!! We are toying with the idea of going paragliding tomorrow afternoon after we go and watch the sunrise over the mountains, however its a little pricey and i dont think the girls are overly keen, we'll see though!
As we speak Natalie is trying to put some photos up onto facebook so have a little browse through and see what you think of Nepal so far!!
Speak to y'all soon,
Chris and Tally
