Dear readers, i regret to inform you.... this will be our final blog! (sniff, sniff)
Since the last update we have done all the thiongs we wanted to do before leaving san fran and finishing our 'journey'.
San Francisco is wicked. MUCH nicer than LA so we are glad we took peoples' advice and spent most of our time in the US here. There is actually quite a lot to do here aside from the shopping!... We have toured the city on the open top 'sight seeing' bus, visited the maximum security 'lock down' Alcatraz (this tour was wicked, taking an indepth look into the cells, guards and inmates... perhaps the most notorious of which was Al Capone the well known mobster. To add an element of authenticity the audio tour is narrated by past inmates and guards who have since past on. The cells were unbelievably small... and solitary confinement was awfull!... it really was a 'hard' place!...)
From fishermans wharf we could see the bridge and tooka few snaps from there, but later caught the bus over to it as felt we had to walk it... well atleast half way!... i threw a few pennies off there, and they took ages to hit the water! it's soooooo high! (FYI 'the golden gate bridge)
We visited a Diner a few times which was really good.... though very, unhealthy!....
We managed to get tickets to go see Interpol, a band i have wanted to see for a while, somehow we managed to get hold of tickets last minute! After the gig, we went into the 'funky' part of San Fran to go visit some of the local nightlife.... tipping pisses me right off!...
We also managed to fit the cinema in too. We wathed a film about travelling strangly enough, though we were not really aware of that when we chose the film... i'm sure you'll be able to catch it in UK cinemas in a few years!?!?!
Other than that we shopped till we dropped!... we had resisted the urge throughout the trip due to having to carry everything around with us. We had promised ourselves a few things when we got here, which turned into a few more once we started looking around and comparing prices to the UK.
all in all we manged to cram a fair bit into the week but still managed to relax enough in order to wind down in order for the reality of our 'homecoming'... Though we wouldn't mind another holiday once we get back ;)
In conclusion then.... this trip has been everything and possibly more than we had ever hoped for!..... we can honestly say it's been the best decision we have ever made to come away and do this!... Of all the contries and places we visited we have loved them all (bar Bangkok :) ...though it was an 'experience' that i'm glad we did)
Looking forward to seeing everyone... especially the new 'wee bairn', who we are yet to meet!..... i have heard a lot about him!
We are off to the airport shortly and after another 'longhaul' (which i actually quite like?!?.. but gem not so much)... we'll be back in good old blighty!
Signing off for the final time :(
