So Fiji time!....
I thought we should probably fill you in on our week or so island hopping in the sun in the Yasawas in Fiji.
Well, we bid Newzealand farewell and flew up to Fiji from Auckland, a few hours later and we were welcomed by tropical sun and fijians playing guitars and shouting BULA! (there version of hello)... We had a night in a backpackers before setting of on our mini adventure. The first island was a good 7 hours sail away so we got there late afternoon.... first evening we had a few hours of sun from the comfort of our hammocks and then went for our dinner and welcome evening.
The next day at Corel view, we went caving to some sea caves, swimming through little holes and jumping from ledges and stuff. later that afternoon i went fishing with this old fijian dude with a handline which was pretty cool as i was the only one on the trip! - he put me to shame, but i did catch a few!... infact later that evening they were presented to me as a surprise during dinner.... they were really tatsty! Gem caught a few rays and networked!... and just before leaving here i had a run in with some very dangerous local wildlife, but i'll explain more when i get home!!!
Second island was Manta Ray(named due to the manta rays you see there!) this was another nice island but a little more built up, ciompared to the 'shacks' we had been stopping in. I snorkelled there which was amazing... keeping an eye out for the notorious sea snake (deadly!)... that night we had a few bevvies and met a nice pompy couple, who we ended up getting to know really well over the next few nights, so that was pretty cool!(Andy and Amy).
Next island (Kuata) was very basic, but really nice - Me and Andy went fishing with a few others and this time i did a lot better catching a massive Benito (5lb ish) and barracuda! Gem and Amy went on a village visit to another island to see the kiddy winks at school and see how fijians live!
From there we went to Bounty island for our final night.... You may have seen this island if you have been unfortunate enough to catch the reality TV show 'Love Island' We swam in the same pool and saw the remainder of the Lurve Shack baby!....
The next and sadly final day we were off on a sailing trip round the islands with FREE beer and BBQ so we were happy!.... During the day we went to the Tom Hanks cast away island and snorkelled on a reef just off it. Of course, during my time on the island i had to make a mock version of Wilson out of a coconut (there will be a pick to follow soon!!!). back on mainland we met up with Andy and Amy and made the most of what felt like luxery accomodation (compared to fijian buras)... We had a few days of drinking and eating well there with our pompy mates!
we left Fiji late that evening (11th Oct) and arrived in LA at 2pm on the 11th!?!?! /due to the time zones we had travelled back in time!!!
First impressions of LA are that it's alright.... a bit tacky and a wee bitty run down perhaps, but okay... we have done all the tourist things and are ready to get to Vegas. The bus picks us up in the morning and we should be there by lunch.
We will try and get picks up in Vegas, as we are a bit behind!
Thamks for the extra picks of the Finn dad, he looks like a little belter! oh and Sally is going to pick us up so you don't need to worry about that, just get the welcome banner made!:)
Hope everyone is well that end
See ya'll soon.... too soon?!?!?
