I arrived in Ko Phangan after taking, 2 ferries and 2 buses, extremely tired. Again the journey lasted much longer than I was promised at the time of booking. Im getting used to that now.
My first night on Ko Phangan was spent on the West Coast in a quiet resort with a lovely beach. It was really nice, but there were hardly any people there at all. So I decided to head to Hat Rin, which really was much busier. I stayed at Paradise bungalows, right on the beach. This seemed like a good idea at the time, but at 5am when the party on the beach was still going, sleep was impossible. Oh well! It wasnt a full moon party, I think I just missed that by a few days, but it was some other "do" to do with the moon.
After a night with no sleep I took a long tail boat out to Hat Tien, to stay at the Sanctuary. I thought I was going to die on this boat. The weather wasnt so good and the sea was rough. Once we'd arrived I got off the boat wet through and shaking, much to the amusement of the driver. This was by the far the best place I have stayed so far. All the bungalows are built into the side of the hill overlooking the bay. The weather picked up and I spent a couple of days doing nothing. I would recommend it to everyone.
