I have seen the most disgusting thing ever! I really dont know how I wasn't sick! On the bus between Phnom Pen and Siem Reap we made a stop for lunch at some stall by the side of the road. They had on offer the usual, something with rice, sandwiches and fruit. But here you could get yourself a deep fried spider!!!! I wasnt suprised to see it as I'd read about it and I just thought it was a bit of a touristy thing. What really did it was back on the bus, the woman sat on the aisle opposite pulled out her bag of spiders that she'd bought. I didnt want to look but I couldn't help it. She ate two big tarantula's, starting with the legs one by one, then she broke up the body into pieces and ate that too. I couldn't believe it. She then picked at her teeth for about half an hour!
The Temples of Ankor, WOW! They are amazing. I have been round Ankor Wat and a few other Temples today. Am heading out again tomorrow for some more. Im absolutely shattered and dont have much time so I dont have time to tell you all about it at the moment. I have uploaded a few pictures though. I have taken hundreds of photo's Its gonna take me an age to sort through all of them. Don't worry I'll only upload a few! Dont want to be boring you all. I'll save that for when I get home. I'll put you through all the photos, I've got to tell you theres alot of them!
Well my second day around Ankor did not start too well. I was up at 04:30 to catch the sunrise at Ankor Wat. Our driver didnt turn up at the agreed time so after waiting 30 mins we left to find someone else to take us. Eventually got there but it was far too cloudy and there really wasnt much to see. Oh well. Have spent the rest of the day looking round more temples and ruins, yes that does mean more photo's! I have been looking forward to this part of my trip since I booked it and it certainly has not disappointed. Everyone should visit here and see the sites.
Tomorrow Im heading back to Bangkok. Will hopefully be meeting up with a few people that Ive met on the way around to have a few beers before they head off home. I will then be off to one of the Islands with whoever is staying around for Christmas. It will be strange to be sunning myself on the beach while your all tucking into your Xmas dinner! Oh, I'd kill for a Yorkshire pudding just now !
Its sad but the S.E. Asia leg of my trip is coming to an end. I'll be flying to Australia on 1st January. Im very excited about getting there.
