Arrived in Mysore this morning. Not much of a fan. Maybe we were just miserable from no sleep, we don't know. But we won't be returning. The modern looking temple at the top wasn't particularly great after the ancient ruins of Hampi. The richshaw driver was a lying arse. The Palace wasn't too bad. However; entry: Indian R20 Foreigner R200. Do the maths.
To be fair the spice market set in a crazy labyrinthine of colour filled alleys was awesome. Just a shame we have no space for spice and silk. Jumped on a sleeper bus to Kochi.

Arrived bright and early at ten to six. Had some chai with a couple of local lads and waited for the city to wake up. Grabbed a bus over to Fort Kochin and we were immediately stunned by the place. The skyline is made up of British colonial architecture, a tropical canal and these large rustic crane structures which are actually named Chinese fishing nets. Nobody really knows how they have been in this part of India for hundreds of years. Paid a couple more quid and got a nice place to have a shower seeing as we had travelled all weekend.

Downsized to a cheaper accommodation. Not a chance we're paying £5 a night for a higher standard than a premier inn. Travesty.
Explored part of the city aptly named 'jew town'. Found a synagogue (surprisingly), a Dutch palace and a massive collection of antiques.

Travelled down to Alleppey today. Dominated by richshaws and mopeds this is definitely the noisest place yet! Had lunch with an Isreali girl, Maayen, who befriended us at the bus station. We all found accommodation together to be in the best bartering position (£2.50 each...not bad eh?). Unfortunately the Gowri accommodation keeps a external water tank. Exposed to insects. Which like to lay their eggs in water. The next time we saw Maayen she was emotional scared after being covered in slugs and larvae. Won't be showering for a few days then.
