It's bloody cold innit?
There's 8 inches of snow in Inkberrow, it's so pretty but I think when the novelty wears off I will be angry that I'm stranded in the village. Walking home from the pub in -15C after a few pints seemed like a perfectly reasonable thing to do. One of our friend's mums came to pick us up to ensure we didn't die, I was grateful - but we would have been fine, we were ½ way through the 45 minute walk home.
The last few days have consisted of drinking at the pub, nights of COD and FIFA and chilling with friends.
Christmas Eve - I have barely managed to get anyone their presents because of the snow - I have not left the village in 5 days, hopefully it will clear up soon. In the evening the whole village descended to the huge christmas tree in the middle of the village and we sang carols - although I was struggling to remember how to sing any of them. I was air-carolling for the most part, especially when the vicar patrolled to make sure everyone was singing and making contributions. I then visited both village pubs and caught up with some old school friends. I then came home and watched a few episodes of Peep show which were brilliant, I will definitely invest in a series on DVD.
Christmas day - I was rudely awoken at about 9 30, I could have slept later but little bro was desperate to open the presents. A good haul this year, a satnav, clothes, itunes vouchers and money for my travels in may. We then put the turkey in the oven and went down the pub for a few hours to carry on the age old tradition of having all the kids meet up and show off what presents they got. It's not quite like it used to be bringing our toy cars or gameboys but the pub shall remain a stable tradition.
A great meal from mother and a cracking cheesecake made us all a bit sleepy, after watching the top gear boxing day special we played the deal or no deal board game (I know aren't we cool) and went to bed. Merry xmas everyone!
Next few days saw me unleash my inner woman on the sales, getting some trendy - or as the Americans call it I believe...'prissy' - boots. I also got presents for everyone I hadn't managed to buy for because of the snow.
New Years Eve party - was one of the first to arrive and quickly started drinking and greeting people. It was a very good party and I had many a cider, a good way to end the year.
1st - 7th January - Pubs, clubbing, meals etc etc.
8th January
I am now on the plane to Atlanta (Georgia), when I get there I'll go through security with the various fingerprint scans etc and have to rush to my connecting flight to Denver. It's then just an hour long bus ride until I get to Boulder and can finally sleep.
The flight hasn't been too bad I guess, the choice of in flight entertainment is...well...entertaining. It is a mostly horrible selection of programs varying from two and a half men to 'man vs food', glee and other rubbish. If these are the best shows America has then god help the poor children who are brought up here. The perk was being able to watch an episode of the office and the social network which was a surprisingly good movie.
Oh a funny thing did happen at the airport, I spotted Philip Glenister - Gene Hunt from ashes to ashes - as he was meeting some other actors (blond guy from spooks and others I didn't recognise). After a while debating whether to approach them mum and dad went to see if they could get a picture taken with Philip Glenister. He obliged and explained how him and the other actors were about to fly to Puerto Rica to film a recent adaptation of Treasure Island. You heard it here first.
Sorry to the Americans who might have been expecting a more interesting and in depth account of a British christmas. I didn't give my blogs much of a thought - I was just enjoying being home.
Time for a new term, hopefully filled with snowboarding, hiking, travelling and exploring many other states .
