Today we went on the Chengdu metro. Last time I was in China, they had only started building it. Now it is huge with the most incredibly impressive stations. The station at Tianfu square really is quite remarkable! We spent the day on a tea hunt. Chengdu doesn't even have proper Chinese tea!! Isaac was thrilled to find a dinosaur book in Chinese and his daddy even let him have an ice cream at Jingli street! University students were practising a sword dance routine and put on a performance just for us. Isaac was very taken with it (worrying) but thankfully was even more taken with zooming over the bridges in his buggy! I was promised a special meal to end the holiday but once again darling hubby managed to get out of going to the beautiful touristy restaurants and we ended up in the same empty restaurant that we always seem to end up in when Bill is being clueless about food. They had no rice and no tea. Not a great sign for a Chinese restaurant! I can't say my desire for proper Chinese food has been quenched this holiday. Tianjin, I still miss you!
