Yes! South America!

We are ever so excited! This is the trip, however, that almost did not happen, or at least not at this time. The problem? No passport for Stan. After applying for the necessary Brazilian Visa (you must actually turn your passport over to the Brazilian Consulate who eventually approves and pastes the Visa doc into your passport and mails it back to you in a postage paid, self-addressed envelope). I received mine as scheduled, but the envelope with Stan's passport got lost in the US mail and went to several post offices in Atlanta and even to North Houston, Texas for two full weeks before it finally arrived at our home on Monday evening, January 12. Now that's cutting it pretty close since our trip starts on January 16. We were within hours of postponing the trip or spending big bucks and untold stress obtaining a new passport and new Visa. The power of prayer! It is a true phenomenon. We prayed to God saying that even though we knew praying for a passport is not a worthy cause, we knew God listens to all prayers and would help. He did.

I hope you follow us here for the whole month as we explore the famous cities of South America and also experience amazing sites such as Iguassu Falls, the Amazon rain forest, Machu Picchu, and the Galapagos Islands. This is going to be great fun and I will do my best to send some interesting stories and fantastic photos!
