Well sadly Negative Ned reared his ugly head on Day 1 of our trip to Iguazu. DAMN HIM!! The 20 hour busride did not bode well due to lack of sleep and my lck of ability to keep my food down. I don't know if it was the bumpety bumps of the bus or the 5 star cuisine the bus offered for dinner, but either way it was not pleasant. So arrived quite disheveled at 8 am. But a nice little man hooked us up with a ¨room rate¨ at a hotel in town. We also decided to share a room with a girl we met on the bus so we could all cut costs. So got checked in, bundled up and headed to the falls. In under an hour we were soaked due to torrential down pours. We booke da boat tour that took us through the rapids and right up next to falls which was cool and provided a very special Kodak moment that we have a 5x7 of. Nice one. Anything that wasn't wet already was absolutely saturated by the end of the boat ride. But we carried on and walked all along the falls and out to ¨Devil's Throat.¨ Crazy little place where a few of the falls spill over the edge in one massive drop. i think on a good day you can see over to the Brasilian side, but not on this day. (Note the pic on my site...we definately didn't have a rainbow!!) So we'd had enough at this point and headed back to the hotel. We had hot showers, pumkin soup and an early to bed. However, the sirens blaring every half hour kind of cramped our style and we were pretty grouchy in the mornin. Something new and different huh?! But there was no rain, so we were thrilled and headed out to the Brasilian side of the falls. Absolutely Amazing!! When you first enter you can see across to the place we were the day before, we could see the boats giving tours and the falls we'd walked around. They were to our far right. There was a path that went for a couple of miles and you could walk along and see the falls stretch endlessly and around each bend they just seemed to go on forever. It was incredible. At the ned of the walkway there were baclonies built out and you just got totally sprayed by the huge fall cascading right in front of you. After we were officially awe struck we took a bus back to the starting point and decided to make a real adventure out of it and do alittle repel. We went down about a 5 story drop, only after our super in deth demo thgouh of course. ha....ha This worst bit was being lowered off the edge when the guy has your hand and has to let go so that you are holding yourself up. There is a spotter, but he is like a little dot down on the jagged rocks below, so not a lot of comfort in that moment! Nic and I went down side by side, but she was lowered of the edge first and to be honest if she wasn't dangling there waiting for me I wouldn't have gone through with it. But once you are off the edge everything is just fine. It is an amazing experience. You definately feel pretty bad ass. Perfectly appropriate: SOMETIMES WE LIVE A LIFETIME IN TWO DAYS.
