3rd October and we flew to Phuket in Thailand. The people in Thailand are lovely with sunny dispositions. We are staying at a place on a 17km beach, Mai Khao in the northwest of the island, with white soft sand, palm trees, a very warm Andaman Sea and the best breakfast we have ever had. Arrived in Singapore at about 6am, taxi to the hotel in the most torrential rain (first we've seen for months). This weekend is the first Singapore Grand Prix - a street race at night. Unfortunately we can't get tickets so will have to watch on the telly. We are staying just off Orchard road, the biggest shopping road in Singapore - although as we later found out there are malls everywhere.
