Wednesday 29th. June...Arrived at Brisbane safe & sound though 40 minutes late due to a late departure from Seoul Airport..."Sorry for the wait Steve & Gail..!!"..It is nice to go away and travel but always good to be back home and share the memories with family & friends...After a couple of hours sleep to recover from a slight case of jet lag we were feeling much brighter and ready to share the duty free and a bottle of red over dinner with Steve & Gail...Fortunately,Myles is on his school holidays at present and came over the next morning with friend James...The long awaited reunion was how I expected it to be.."Wonderful"..Where height is concerned both of them are obviously not taking after the "Watts" side of the family, or am I shrinking as I get older..!!!!!..With the discussion on either a round of golf at Pine Rivers or the movies we opted on McDonalds and the movies for the afternoon with the four of us watching "Kung Fu Panda 2" at the Morayfield Birch Carroll & Coyle Cinema....Myles was due to play another competition on Wednesday so we decided on joining him & James for a practice session the next day at Caboolture Golf Club where they both happen to be members..Liam was home from work by the time we dropped the boys home in the afternoon...Songhi & I are looking forward to seeing and spending more time with the two of them now that we are back in Australia and have decided to settle on the Sunshine Coast for a year after our return from Tasmania at the end of August...Needless to say, they are both excited & happy with the decision too... Thanks again to Steve for the loan of his car, on Tuesday Songhi & I joined Myles & James for a round of golf...With a day of blue skies and sunshine (23degs.) it was a typical Queensland winters day and perfect for a day out on the golf course...We caught the train from Caboolture to Gympie at 1020hrs. on Wednesday and look forward to spending a few days in the Queensland countryside with Peter & Ethel on their crayfish farm in Gunalda...Liam & Myles intend to drive up for a few days next week too which will give BJ (their grandson) some teenage company while he is here on holiday from school... It's been wonderful seeing Peter & Ethel again and it certainly does not feel we have been away for one year...As usual, there is always plenty to do around the farm so we both look forward to helping out wherever possible....Preparation for a special order of 2000 tomorrow morning should be enough to get Songhi & I back into the swing pretty fast...
Monday 11th. July....We have had a wonderful 11 days at Cherax Park with Peter & Ethel...As you can imagine with always plenty to do it's been an enjoyable few days helping out on their crayfish farm...from harvesting, seperating large from small, packing, preparing the popular & yummy crumb tails to repairing fences and helping Mark with tidying up some of the numerous ponds, Songhi & I have certainly kept ourselves busy...Liam & Myles came up from Brisbane and stayed for a couple of nights too and it was good to spend some lost quality time with the two boys, needless to say we look forward to seeing them more often once we move back to Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast at the end of August...While Liam was quite content to test out his 4 wheel driving skills around on the farm, Myles was more than happy to practice his driving skills running errands and acting as chauffer for us all in the farm's Suzuki and Toro... They both headed back home on Thursday as Songhi & I helped in preparing the food van for a busy three days over the weekend at the Nambour Garden Expo...This is Peter & Ethel's 4th year at this paticular show & according to them, the busiest so far. Their Redclaw cutlets and spring rolls have earned them a unique & very popular reputation at these country shows..Songhi & I took it in turns to help with serving over the weekend, while the cooking & frying was equally shared between Peter, Ethel, Marianne and farm hand Mark...As you may imagine we all smelt like a fish & chip shop by the end of each day..!!!.. Though tired & worn out through our 5.00am starts each day it was an enjoyable and fun weekend to end another memorable stay at Cherax Park..
The thrill of playing witness to seeing four new additions to the family of sheep & Songhi even getting the chance to cuddle one was also an extra bonus for experiencing farm life in outback Gympie... Dinner at the Gunalda pub is a regular Thursday ritual for Peter & Ethel and the new owners have certainly made an impression on the locals..It's been a while since I've had a good aussie steak & salad..!!!..It also gives Ethel a break from cooking once a week...
We look forward to flying to Tasmania on Wednesday the 14th. and catching up with all our friends and family including our little four legged furry friend Dante..!!!..Hope he still remembers us and has not got too attached to his new friend Madeline, as we are both anxious to bring him back to Queensland with us when we return...Thanks Pat, for offering to take care of him while we have been away and we wish you a great three weeks in Vietnam while we return you the favour and housesit your home & keep Maddie company..!!!..
