Friday 5th February 2016.
Today we start to look forward to our next 'trip' of this holiday. We enjoy our final French breakfast at Anse Marcel. Chocolate and macadamia nut cookies are not my normal fare first thing but with fabulous fresh juices, fruit and strong delicious coffee, it would be rude not to and they are sooooo good!
Our cab arrives in perfect time and whisks us to St Martins International airport which is very plush and security is very thorough and is on a par with most European ones, not like many Central Americans we've sauntered through. It's a 30 hop on Coconut Airways to Beef Island the International airport of the British Virgin Islands. The cabs on the islands are run like a bit of a cartel, prices are fixed per person plus luggage. I've booked a hotel in Roadtown the capital of Tortola which is joined to Beef Island by a causeway. Our Hotel has seen better days. It's clean, functional and will do for a stopover night. There is a small swimming pool and the one thing you have to say is the views from everywhere at the hotel are breathtaking. The whole bay of Roadtown is in front of you and surrounded as it is by beautiful green mountains speckled with villas and houses. There are 2 cruise ships docked in the main harbour. Both huge, both American, but one is just enormous. It's called Norwegian Breakaway and I'm sure most of the population of Norway could fit on it. To my mind it's a monstrosity but it must bring a huge amount of business to the islands economy but in doing totally clogs the roads by the dozens of 30 person open-sided coaches that transport the passengers about.
Our minds are thinking non-stop about the adventure that is due to begin tomorrow.
