Hello everyone! My name is Alison Wright and I am currently a junior majoring in Character Animation. I first heard about Volunteer UCF's Alternative Break Program through one of my best friends, who also happens to be attending this trip as well! Last night was my first experience with the Alternative Break Program and it was definitely a memorable one. When the name drawings first started, my friend Mary got her name called towards the very beginning and immediately ensured her spot on the Costa Rica trip. Unfortunately my name was one of the last names called and by then, all of the open spots had been filled already. So I went with another one of my top choices for the Alternative Break Program and was still very excited for my chosen program yet sad that I would not be able to experience Costa Rica with one of my best friends. While waiting in line to pay my deposit towards my selected trip to Key West, I was approached by both Mary and a coordinator who informed me that a spot had just opened up for the Costa Rica trip! In a heartbeat, I swapped trips and secured my fate to venture to Costa Rica with my best friend to go look after the endangered animals that await us. Although it didn't start out this way, the night surprisingly turned out exactly how I hoped it would! I am beyond excited and blessed to be given the opportunity to volunteer for such an amazing and fulfilling cause.
