MATT: Koh Samui...what a change of speed. This is the Thailand of holiday packages, honeymoons and family, beachside holidays. Everything is properly geared up for tourists here...which has been great for us for Christmas and as the weather has not been so great - the first time we have seen rain in a couple of months and it has poured for 3 days so far. We have been here a few days now staying at Eden Bungalows on Bo Phut beach...it is nice. A relaxed place with plenty nice restaraunts and a slow pace. We also have the easy 100B trip (£2) round the island to Chaweng beach where the party people stay...so we will probably be there for new year.

We have had a a great Christmas here...although quite disjointed and nothing like home. But we did have a real blowout...we went to an Italian restaurant and spent a weeks dining budget on our Christmas dinner...but it was worth it. Back to rice soup and water for a few days to make up for it both physically and financially.

The next few days hold some trips round the island...which though quite developed is still a beautifull tropical island - palm trees and white beaches. I just hope the sun comes out...
