Kel: We made it to BA! Felt like a bit of a milestone really reaching the big smoke. We were only there for a couple of days before we broke off into another wee adventure (more on that later) but would be returning for more fun after that.

So we started off walking.... loads. We wandered round the main city centre, fantastic architecture, very European. We visited the government building (pink house) where Evita would have made her speeches to the masses from, the square of 9th July (independence), the obelisk, the cafes, the steakhouses... and they didn-t dissapoint. We enjoyed eating lots of morcilla (argentinian black pudding), chorizo, massive massive steaks and copious amounds of cheap, but lovely, red wine. Living the dream eh!

The areas of BA are so different. We stayed in San Telmo, a bit cheaper but a not dangerous area. Cobbled streets, artisan, bohemian feel. City centre is very Spanish. Recoleta, the posh part of town is very french with it-s tree lined massive avenues and Boca (which we visited later) is very Italian. So it was a really interesting place to wander around and not get bored at all.

The people (portenos, local BAs) were very friendly and not at all like the grumpy big smoke Londoners (!). It-s funny cause we found out they have a ratio of 1 shrink to every 30 locals and about 30 percent have had some form of plastic surgery. Funny. We were guessing all the time, and did see a fair few women with broken noses bandaged up.

Anyway, we had a lovely intro to the capital (even though our hostel was a bit disappointing) before we stopped momentarily for a little adventure just outside of town.....
