Alex lost in India-plus skips, blind leading blind
Hey guys writing this retrospectively as have been a little rushed over last few days. But, we love trivandrum. Food has been amazing again, everywhere we've eaten and still ridiculously cheap. Staying in 'doubtful' hotel but in good location. First day went to go to the zoo which was closed, and took a while to comfort skippy- looking forward to the goats. But we followed some random sign to an art exhibition by a small up and coming artist. Eclectic mix of different art mediums by really sweet artist who we started chatting to. Next thing we know without really giving permission or being asked we're being interviewed by Indian TV, prattled on about art for a while. Chatted some more and the artist invited us to her house for festival (equivalent of christmas) lunch. Really honoured, slightly dubious that they would use TV material though. Afternoon went to very bizarre little tourist park thing with interesting (and deffinately erotic!!) sculptures! Next morning recieve call saying that our Indian TV debut will be at 8.30 and that we were to attend for lunch at 1pm. News came on and theres a pic of waf peceively looking at a picture the artist talks and then Skips waffles on about art for a minute with waf hovering in background. It was bloody brilliant, one week travelling and we've made it on to TV- classic!! Lunch was amazing. Sitting on the floor crossed legged with food on banana leaf, as usual no cuttlery in sight, but this time have whole family (around 30 people)plus neighbours and being filmed- neadless to say a wee bit self conscious. They were really welcoming and lovely, explained all the traditions and so nice to be completely welcomed into a family home. Turns out our little TV masterpeice was shown about 10 times- brilliant. Then after dinner train to varkala...
Skippy's random fact on trivandrum...
