I cant actually remember if Ive even done an entry from Sydney so far, and Ive been here for over a week now!! Im so rubbish, but I have been so rushed off my feet, attempting to arrange EVERYTHING that I could possibly imagine and more!!! If this is what its like to be a responsible adult who has to organise themself and look after themself, then I dont like it!!!!!!!
I have (somehow) managed to get it all done though, stuff like setting up my Oz Bank Account, Taxfile Number, Mobile phone... Ive managed to find a room to rent for a month, and I stayed there with my new friend, Marie for the first time last night.( We met at the Wake up Hostel where we were both dropped off from the airport and started talking, and we have been helping eachother with the home/job search ever since. She is from Belgium, and is really nice!!)
Its in a place called "Surrey Hills" just outside of the City, and the address is "131 Commonwealth Street" which is pretty cool- I have an address in Sydney! But, before I get too excited, I must remember that it is a Student House, and therefore is rather basic, and the mattress has a few "interesting" inhabitants in there!! (Thank God for my sleeping bag and insect repellant permiated sheet...Mum really knew what she was talking about when she said that it would come in very handy...!) But, its only for a month at the moment, so if we find something better in early January, we can move out soon after.
The biggest problem that I have at the moment is that Im having a load of grief with my Bank Card, which is very, very bad and stressful, as obtaining money is practically impossible without it, but hopefully (everything crossed!!) it will all be sorted out later today.(Please, please, please!!) Poor Mum has been worried sick over in Roratonga I bet whilst I have been sending her eratic and inconjusive emails about all the events, which I feel really bad about as she is supposed to be relaxing and enjoying herself, and Paul has been going into overload back in the UK mailing me trying to help also, which Im greatful about!
O My God!!! I just rememberred, everyone will be so confused now!! I havent even told you yet that Paul went home from Christchurch and is now back in the UK!!! I wanted to wait until he got back home, and then I have been so busy since that I havent had chance!!
Its a long story, but I think that it was best for everyone involved, although I really dont know what the situation actually is at the moment, now!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, somewhere inbetween all this craziness and stress and anguish, it has been the first time when I really had a doubt about myself and my ability to do this thing, and I seriously considerred packing it all in and going back to England, but now, I have pulled myself together, and realised that I am made of tougher stuff that that!! I have never been a quitter and I dont propose to let Sydney defeat me, no matter how hard it gets!!! I will make it somehow, and I think that once I have settled in a little more and Mum arrives for Xmas (I cant wait!!!) I may even start to enjoy it.
To be defeated at the first hurdle just isnt my style, and to not give it a chance would just be the stupidest thing ever, because Id probably just get back to the UK and regret it forever!! So, I shall stay at least a little while longer!!!!
Apart from all that stuff and being resilient and strong about it, I have managed to also see a lot of the city (mostly by walking aroung continuously every day for about 7 hours on the job hunt and subsequently being absolutely knackerred!!!) including the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, and Coogee and Bondi beaches...which were gorgeous!! (Another reason that I cant go home yet!!) Although the weather is pretty shoddy at the moment, but when the sun was out the other day, it was absolutely swelterring!!
I have also been sampling the nightlife somewhat, with most nights not ending until at least 4am, which probably hasnt helped my emotional and psyical state, with all the job hunting and all, but Hell!! Im in Sydney!! (Although there has been no alcohol consumption as usual, which always helps the budget as well!!)
Oh, and something really random happenned the other night when I was staying at the Wake up! They have a bar called "Sidebar" downstairs, and I was in there with a few peeps, whan accross the room I saw a profile that I recognised. I thought that perhaps it was just someone from the Hostel or something that I had chatted to (there are so many of them I can hardly keep track!!) but when she turned around, I recognised her completely!
I dont really know her, but it was a girl from the year above me at Werneth School, and she also worked at Pizza Hut in the Peel Centre, I think she is called Katie Watkins or something like that..Im not sure!!
I didnt bump into her, and Im not sure if she saw me, but it was a bit wierd, like "bloody hell-small world! What are the chances of us being in Sydney in the same Bar??" I thought that it was pretty funny, anyway.
Besides that, I have had a job interview for a Promo place, which I am about 50/50 on confidence levels about at the moment, and I have to call another guy to arrange an interview at a similar company also, so hopefully, I may soon be employed and earning a little bit of cash...or even better, a lot of cash!!!!
Well, I have to go now and hopefully sort the whole Bank thing out successfully, but I will try to keep up to date with this thing whenever I can, unlike I have been doing so far!!
ps. sorry if none of it makes any sense, its all a bit of a blur for me, so I dont know about you guys!!!!
