Day 31 Heading for Montreal
As mentioned previously we departed Fairbanks in the early hours of the morning. We arrived in Seattle around 6.00am. Luckily we did not have to change terminals so there was no need to go through the arduous procedure of security.
We had about an hour and half wait for our next flight. We took the opportunity to have a coffee (Vince)/ tea (Margaret) and a cinnamon raisin bagel for breakfast. The flight for Chicago was on time. This was a four-hour flight. Once again Vince managed to get in some sleep while Margaret read.
O'Hare airport is very large and very busy. At first we thought we would need to change terminals but once again were lucky enough to say in the same very large terminal. We passed a number of shops and eateries before arriving at our departure gate. Once we had organised our boarding tickets (being an international flight this was not able to be issued in Fairbanks) we headed off to get some lunch - Subway.
We then filled in our 5-hour wait catching up on blog writing.
Finally, on the plane for our final leg we were informed by the pilot that due to favourable winds our two and half hour flight was going to be about 45 minutes shorter. As this was a smaller jet we only had the one flight attendant. Being very critical I can say that these 3 flights did not have attendants certainly did not have the professional appearance of Aussie staff. The young girl on this flight looked like she had just come in of the tarmac after standing in front of moving propellers.
As we had forgotten we were carrying some uneaten apples we needed to go through border security. If only there had been bins to discard this on departing the plane, we could have saved about 40 minutes.
Once dismissed we had to find where the hotel shuttle pulled up. Not an easy task. Finally found it was about a 5 minute trip to the Sheraton where we would stay the night.
