Day 41 Quebec 2
Today was rather overcast and luckily we had decided to wear jeans and take our gortex jackets in case of rain. The rain did not eventuate but the icy wind picked up and the wind proofing of the jacket was greatly appreciated.
We headed back into the area of Old Quebec. We did the battlefields walk along the cliffs and around the citadel. It was quite a cool and windy walk. We headed back to the car to move it from its overdue street park.
We decided to take a drive around the area and find a new parking spot. Once parked we went for a walk in what looked like an interesting street. Cartier Street was not so interesting but we did find a restaurant serving Poutine. This is a Canadian favourite that originated in Canada. It is made on chips and chunks of cheese (mozzarella or boccioni) with gravy poured over it all. You can get variations with different types of meat added. We went with the traditional.
We got back to the car and we took a drive through the city and then out onto the road that runs along the river below the cliffs. This is all reclaimed land so as to make the dock area out in the deeper waters of the river.
We ended up in the city area where we had coffee at Starbucks in Chateau Frontenac and used their free wifi. They are quite good, allowing 24 hours of free wifi while in the hotel. We went for a roam in the top section of Old Quebec as we will be stopping here in a week's time on our cruise so will have more time to take in the area then.
Back to the car and return to the apartment to get some washing done before packing up to move on tomorrow. We managed to walk 15 km today.
