Day 17 After an early bed and an early start, we were on the road just after 7.00am. It was a rather windy road climbing and descending the mountains ranges as we drove towards Whistler. It would be an easy 3 to 4 hour drive today without stops. At one stage we had to wait on the mountain road while road workers, hooked up in harnesses, cleared possible rock and rubble slide onto the road. They were drilling into the mountain side, removing rock to avoid...

Day 15 Bright sunny day but cool first up. Back to Smitty's where we both had the day's special of Farmers Skillet (sliced sausage, tomato, capsicum, diced potato, scrambled egg, cheese). Just as filling but possibly a little healthier option than yesterday's choice. We drove back out to Maligne Lake to the Mary Schaffer loop trail. Day 16 Prince George to Lillooet Up early we were on the road by 8:30am after a quick breakfast, goodbyes and fuelling the car. Today we were heading south to Lillooet. Lillooet is a small town north east of Whistler. From what we could gather it was a mining town. However, we are getting ahead of ourselves as we had the drive first. We were travelling just over 500kms or approx. 6 hours today, heading mainly south. The drive was again on a secondary road...

Day 14 Once again we awoke to a cool, overcast day. We did have a few spots of rain but nothing that stopped our trekking. As we did not have eating facilities it was a walk across the road to "Smittys". Here Vince had the 5 pancake stack while Margaret had the day's special, 3 stack with blueberries and cream. Next on the agenda was to walk off breakfast, which was not a problem. First stop Athabasca Falls. This was about 30 minutes walk visiting...

Day 13 Lake Louise, The Icefields and Jasper After thunderstorms overnight, we awoke to an overcast, drizzly day with a temperature of 5°C. This was the first really wet day so far. After packing the car, we once again headed up the Icefield Parkway, destination - the Columbia Icefields. It was not a good day for photos due to very low lying cloud.
