Here's another view of Fort St. Jean. This is part of the "Les Regards" collection.
In the XVth century King Rene built the tower, to reinforce control of the port. During the Revolution, it was used to house prisoners. In WWII, the Germans used the fort as a munitions depot. It exploded in the Liberation of Marseile in August, 1944.
