Mary became queen of Scotland at age one when her father, King James V died. Her mother, Mary of Guise, acted as regent while Mary grew up in France. She married Le Dauphin (the crown prince of France), but was widowed early, & returned to rule Scotland on the death of Mary of Guise in 1560. But she didn't rule Scotland for long....
