This wasn't the best of mornings! We got up early to say our goodbyes to 5 of our old group who were joining another truck and heading to Jo'berg. The tummy bug was still making us all feel exhausted and miserable. (I promise it's not all the brilliant nights out we're having). After loads of hugs and goodbyes, we waved Doug, Verginia, Geoff, Sarah and Roberta off on the other truck! It was quite sad after spending over 2 weeks with them 24/7 and getting on so well.
Nicole, Randa and I went and relaxed all morning by the swimming pool, writing postcards and catching up on our journals. It was nice to have some quiet time once and a while.
Greg came and found us before he left to say goodbye. More hugs and sad faces for a while, it was horrible saying goodbye when he was meant to be our guide for the next 3 weeks! We all said it wouldn't be the same without him.
Anyways my blog application gave up on me this afternoon and no matter what I do, I can't get it to open or get back any of the drafts I have already written! I'm not happy, I don't want to stop writing it after managing to keep it up 6 weeks already. The wifi at the camp is down for line maintance too which means I can't re-download it Grrr. That's Africa for you and it will explain why my blogs a good week behind :)
After our depressing morning of saying bye to all our 'Africa' friends, it was time to get super nervous and super excited about VICTORIA FALLS BIG 3 AIR EXPERIENCE!!!! Yay :) This included a 111m Bungee Jump, Vic Falls Gorge Zip Line and Gorge Swing!
Nicole, Clare and I had signed up for it, but I was the only one that had done a bungee before. Chris offered to take us to the bridge in the truck to save us getting taxis :) This was a bonus but basically he just wanted to come and watch us!!
We did the Zip line first which was really cool, not scary one bit and very picturesque looking onto the falls.
Next was the bungee.. let's just say I wouldn't have booked it if I had seen the bungee site/safety first. Nicole had to go first because she was lighter, then it was me. The experience was nothing like the Nevis in Queenstown but I had to remember this was Africa! (TIA = This is Africa!!!) Everything is different here and TIA is used a lot to explain why things are different from anywhere else. It was still fantastic being able to bungee from Victoria Falls bridge with the falls behind you.
Next was the gorge swing! I enjoyed this the most, as Nicole and I went tandem. Afterwards we found out this was the most dangerous way to do it but it was brilliant. We both stepped off the bridge together holding each other and free falled vertically until the swing wires took hold and then gently drifted from side to side across the gorge looking towards the falls.
The 3 of us were delighted and had a massive adrenaline buzz when we had finished but totally exhausted. We had planned to have another evening at The Royal Livingstone watching the sunset and enjoying some more 5* treatment but we were all exhausted and instead it was just back to the bar/restaurant at The Waterfront.
I wasn't feeling great so actually missed tea and just went straight to sleep, must have been sleeping by 8ish. The wifi still wasn't working so was pretty gutted I couldn't sort my Internet banking and my blog application, as I have no idea how much money is in any of my accounts.
Well it's my last night in the 'fancy' tent, so making the most of getting a good sleep before we hit the normal tents again tomorrow.
Goodnight Waterfront!!! xxx
