I went down to breakfast at the hotel myself, as I wasn't sharing with anyone last night and hadn't arranged a time to meet the girls. It was fine though, by the time I was down most of the group had already had their breakfast. We had a long day today with a 15 hour overnight train from Hué to Hanoi. We had to arrange food for the train and snacks to last us right through till the next morning. I went to the supermarket after breakfast to get some things, but it wasn't a pleasant walk by myself as locals kept hassling me and shouting things across the street.
It was quite a walk too and when I got there the supermarket wasn't anything special. It was all local food that I didn't know what it was haha. We had spoken about getting some drink for the train and also getting some cheese and biscuits. The only cheese that looked normal was soft cheese that was in triangles and ritz biscuits, then I got a bottle of red wine so we could have a cheese and wine party :) I met Justine and Karee in the supermarket so ended up walking back to the hotel with them. They had bought fizzy pop alcohol and Lauren and Nikki had went for a bottle of vodka, so it looked like there was going to be a wee party on the train.
I had a shower and packed my bag when I got back to the hotel in time for meeting the group at the reception at 12pm. We had ordered some food from the restaurant we had lunch at yesterday so I had sweet and sour chicken for lunch before getting on the train. We had to wait, what felt like ages, for the train to arrive. Lauren, Nikki and I shared with Charles again but he had managed to get the whole group upgraded to first class which was amazing, because first class was still minging!!! The second class carriages looked awful though and I wouldn't put sheep or cattle in that conditions never mind humans. When we got settled into our carriages it was about 2pm so we all went for a power nap since we had been out last night. I had such a deep sleep until half 4ish and I felt so much better after it.
It was then time for the cheese and wine party when we all woke. Nikki had also bought some cheese so the four of us set out all the munchies on the table and stuffed our faces haha. Charles and I shared my bottle of red first and the girls had vodka. The others in the rooms next door were all sitting chatting, they hadn't started drinking yet but they sounded like they were having a ball. Charles had never heard of the Inbetweeners before so we decided to put it on my iPad and watch a few of the first series and then the film. It was so funny seeing his reaction to it, he was killing himself laughing at some points. Charles had two bottles of Dalat Vietnamese red wine (it was purely disgusting) with them so in the end we had drank 3 bottles of red between the two of us and the girls had made a fair shift through the bottle of vodka!!!
Next on the list was the Top Gear Vietnam Special that Charles had on his laptop. A few others came into our room to watch it too so it was pretty scrammed but I just stayed on my top bunk out of the way. The red wine had made me slightly tipsy and I was sound o sleep straight after Top Gear had finished :) We had turned a boring afternoon stuck on a train into a lot of fun. I fair enjoyed my evening on the train!!! xxx
