We left Raqchi in the morning and had a drive day to Chivay. To pass the time on the truck most of us had our face painted! I was a bee, Sarah a smurf, Shanna an egg, T-bone the Joker, Dee a flower, Jake a snake, Kelly a ladybird, Neil a pirate and Matt an Inca Kola bottle. We looked fabulous! We left Cusco about 8am and set off on the road again in a new truck called Cindy. We were heading for Raqchi where we were doing a homestay visit. We got up at 6am to be ready to leave at 7am. Our group was splitting into two as some were doing the classic Inca trail and we were doing the community trail. Day 1: We said goodbye to the others and got in the minibus with Jonathon our guide. First of all we drove to a place called Sacsayhwaman to see some Inca ruins. It was a long drive day to Cusco and also someones birthday so there was a lot of drinking and fun had on the truck during the day!!! Cusco is also built in a slight bowl. We stopped at the top of the city to look down into the city. Cusco also has a Christ statue watching over the city although it is not as big as the one in Rio. We got up and boarded the truck ready to cross the border into Peru. We were travelling to Puno another place on the edge of Lake Titicaca. We arrived by lunchtime and todays activity involved another boat trip!! This time to see the Uros floating islands, islands made out of reeds.
