Usually a blog entry from the world famous Vang Vieng in Laos would be very colourful indeed, however mine is going to be very dull in comparison. I still wasnt feeling on top form. Even though I had gone to bed at 4:30 the day before I was still feeling really tired so the idea of tubing wasnt appealing to me at the time. So whilst all my friends got ready to go tubing, which involves riding down a muddy river on a rubber tyre tube and stopping off at many riverside bars along the way, I had a rest and explored the small town. The town was very touristy with most of the shops being souvenir shops or restaurants. Nearlly all the people there were tourists and hardly any locals. It was completely different to rest of Laos that we had seen so far.

Later on when everyone had returned, most of them worse for wear and covered in body paint, we all went for dinner. Every restaurant in Vang Vieng has a big wide screen TV and is either showing the Simpsons or Friends. I ordered pizza but only managed a slice, I still wasnt feeling hungry. So it was another early night for me!

Maybe another time I can experience the true experience of Vang Vieng.
