12th July 2007 After a long overnight journey on the Greyhound Bus we eventually arrive in Airlie Beach at 11am. Checked into 'Magnums Backpackers' hostel, we are in a 'deluxe cabin' not that I would call it deluxe but i suppose it has an en-suite, 8 bed bunks. We walked down to the beach front where there is a lagoon, similar to the one in Cairns. As we walked past all the cabins, we saw a giant reptile thing - it was enormous! 8th July 2007 Last night was STILL cold, despite the fact i was wearing shorts, tracksuit bottoms, 3 pairs of socks (including football socks folded over twice!) a vest, long sleeve t shirt, and 2 fleeces ASWELL as my sleeping bag and towel over that! I even put a woolly hat on at one point but it fell off during the night. So managed to get slightly more sleep but not great. Flight at 1pm into Cairns so we're now GMT+9. Its a bit warmer here around 24degrees. C...

6th July 2007 Today we got up and checked out of our hostel in Perth and waited for our shuttle bus at 8am. Got on the 10.30am flight to Ayers Rock which took an hour and a half. Landed at the tiniest airport ever with absolutely nothing about! Even worse than Skiathos airport and thats saying something! This place is deserted. No signs of civilisation - THE OUTBACK! - Brilliant! Picked up our rental car - Toyota Corolla brand new, and headed straight for Uluru....

1st July 2007Today we got up and left the hostel for 10am, walked to the railway station and got on the train to Freemantle which cost just over $3 and took about 30 mins. It was pouring with rain, so glad i had my backpack rain cover, but Jen didnt have one so custom made one from a binbag!! Haha, classy travellers! First we went and had a look round Freemantle markets, but even they were pretty expensive! I bought a shot glass from a 'cheap' street shop...

30th June 2007 Alarm went off this morning at 5.45am so up showered and ready at the airport for 7am. I have really enjoyed Singapore, learnt a lot about the country - that you can get fined for doing almost anything, and tourist ignorance just isn't an issue. The death penalty is still in enforcement of use and trafficking of drugs. Chewing gum is illegal. You are not allowed a house of your own unless you are married or over the age of 35! The population is 4 ...
