After a 6 hour drive on nasty and very busy NSW roads, we reached Hunter Valley and were pleased to discover that we caught up with the sun and finally escaped the grey sky. We stayed in a lovely B&B in the middle of nowhere. As the nearest little town didn't prove very exciting, we decided to buy some nice cheese, salami, antipasti, bread and of course some lovely Hunter Valley wine and had a nice evening on our balcony. Next day we set out early to explore the Hunter Valley wineries. First stop was Tyrell's where apart from the usual wine tasting we had a tour around the vineyard and the winery buildings - which was a nice change from usual 'just tasting' sessions. It was interesting that they had a breathalysing machine - we made sure that we were under the limit and set off to explore some more wineries. The afternoon passed very quickly - it involved plenty of wine and even some cheese tasting.
