Left early this morning on my first tour, the Classic Rhapsody Trek. Carlos our Portugese/South African driver/guide is hilarious. He was actually driving for Busabout from Berlin to Prague and he left the tour guide behind in Berlin! It was only after 45 mins that one of the people tapped him on the shoulder to tell him that the guide was not with them.

On the bus Carlos made us play musical chairs so that we could meet the other people on the tour. There is a family from Auckland and a retired couple from Hokianga, and a guy originally from Auckland but living in London. Those are the only Kiwis on board. The family is pretty cool though, the parents pulled the kids from school slightly early before school holidays to do this holiday in Europe. These kids are the most grounded kids ever and they are pretty on to it. I think they will learn heaps more on their holiday here than they will at school about history etc. The retired couple from Hokianga are pretty fun as well, Jenny the wife is an absolute crack up, young at heart I would say.

First stop was Kutna Hora, the church with bones/skulls etc. I was really looking forward to seeing this but after seeing the Catacombs in Paris, this was a bit of a let down. The church wasn't impressively large, and the amount of skulls/bones in there did not compare to the Catacombs.

After that we drove to Olomouc, but got lost in the process because the roads had altered slightly. After checking into the hotel we went out for a walking tour of the town (mainly university students) and then had dinner at another Czech restaurant. (so over Goulash and Dumplings). After that we went to a bar which was in an aeroplane and it looked like someone had just landed the plane there and left it. Going inside was almost like stepping back in time. There was 70/80's decor and fake flowers and the wierdest owners ever that seemed like he didn't want us to be there.

Stayed for about an hour then went home. Most of the people ended up crowding around the TV to watch Croatia vs. Turkey in the footie. We were all rooting for Croatia because we will be in Crotia when the finals are on. Too bad they lost.
