15th January
Today was another early start at 7:30am. We started the morning stopping off at The awesome Twin Kauri trees a route the Maori took. The trees are supposed to give you good Karma. We then head back over the Coromandel Ranges and down into Waikato. Waikato is known for its dairy farming (apprently the most productive in the world) - there were, not suprisingly, lots of cows around. Then we had a quick stop on Hamilton to stock up on food for dinner and breakfast before heading on to Raglan.
In Raglan the surf was up!! So gave my second go at surfing. Raglan is a world famous surf spot - there were some good surfers here. I stayed in Karioi Lodge in the bush overlooking Whale Bay.
Raglan has a very relaxed atmosphere and one of the few great surf towns in new Zealand. It is known for its left hand surf break which was featured in the film "The Endless Summer".
That evening was chilled out tired from the surfing and leave at 8am in the morning :-(.
