4000 Islands, Laos 20th - 23rd April 2012
We woke very early after little sleep due to the bugs again we headed on a tuk tuk to the bus station, only to breakdown on the way there, so we had to pay for a bike man each and get to the station. The bus seemed ok, which was good considering it was going to be a very very long journey. Around 5pm we arrived at the Laos boarder where I paid $1 for a guy on the bus to sort my passport stamps out. Then we headed on the boat across to Don Det one of the larger islands. We found a little bungalow along the river and headed out for dinner and a few drinks with people we met on the boat. Everything finishes at 10pm as there is a curfew.
Following morning we sat around in hammocks and walked around the island, then it started to rain so we got some lunch before heading back to the guesthouse to shelter from the rain. That evening I got a nice early night. We decided that we wanted to go on a motorbike trip for 3 days so we booked our bus for the 23rd to Tha Keak. On our final day we went on an all day kayaking tour to see the whit river dolphins - and we saw them we also visited the largest waterfall in SEA which was also beautiful. It was a great but tiring day, that evening we got another early night as we had to get the boat to the main land at 9am.
