Phnom Penh, Cambodia 17th - 20th April 2012
We got the bus at 12pm and arrived in Phnom Penh around 6:30pm after finding somewhere to stay we headed out to find some westernized food, as we were sick of rice and noodles. We ended up getting steak it was amazing felt so much better than having it at home although im sure its not. We then got a few beers before heading back to the hostel to sleep. That night resulted in me having zero sleep, there were bugs everywhere but we had arranged for a tuk tuk driver to pick us up at 10am to take us to the killing fields, S12 and the market.
Cambodian history is horrible, to know that that amount of people were harmed only 35 years ago is terrible, and very upsetting. It is still very raw in a lot of Cambodian minds.
Bart started to feel really ill so he went back to sleep while I walked around the market which was ok, not the best market but they are all starting to look the same the only difference he is that I didn't get shouted at by all the locals which was a nice change - so I supposed it was more enjoyable than most markets.
It was our final day in Phnom Penh,, so we took a walk along the Mekong river down to the royal palace which was beautiful and chilled by the river. We collected our washing packed our bags, collected our passports with our new Laos visas in, got some dinner and sleep as we were leaving very early the next morning to get to the boarder crossing into laos.
