Sorry - I know its been a long time - so this is going to be a long read!! NYC, ICELAND, MEXICO and
Los Angeles, California
So......Since I last wrote I have been all over the place.
NEW YORK CITY
After the left Lima I headed to New York for a few days. As many of you know me - yes of course - i fell in love with the place and will definatly be going back there and some point esp. for the shopping. In New York I visited the main tourist attractions: Statue of Liberty, Top of the Rock, Times Square, Central Station, Macey's, 5th Avenue etc. I also met up with a friend in the evenings to drink in some local NYC bars. After that I had to jump on a flight to Iceland for my brothers 18th.
ICELAND
Iceland was an emotional family holiday as always: night 1: big night out just arrived time to party hard - I won a meter of beer in a bar = all drunk = memory loss. So the big question of that evening - was where did I sleep??? Somehow I had managed to get changed in to my PJs, pick up my empty bag pack and sleep most probably somewhere in the corridor before waking my brother up to let me in.
The next morning was an early start on the days adventures: we all hoped in a big sorta car/truck thing and headed along the gold coast. Today we were visitng a few waterfalls and going on skidoos. And although I was very wobbly and nearly fell of a few times - it was mum and dad who decided to fall into the thick snow in slow motion - in which mum so some unknown reason got on the back of my bike. In the evening it was calm compared to the night before just dinner and a few drinks.
Again - another early start on our action packed trip: this time it was a stop in the morning for some snorkling in 2 degree water through two plates - highlight of the trip for me. Then after freezing in water we went caving. Caving was an unknown sport to me - but bascially it involves helmets and flash lights and walking quickly through caves - is actually quiet fun - it was a bit like going through the Potosi mines although not as dangerous. We were all recovered from our hangovers and were ready and raring for another night of drinking. But before drinking too much we saw the NORTHERN LIGHTS - it was amazing green stripes across the sky incredible - after we arrived back to the hotel to go to my cousins room to eat mars bars - dont ask why!! But we woke up the couple in the room next door and a man shouted at us so we thought we had better go to bed.
The next morning we didnt think anything of the night before - we were all quietly sitting in the dining room having breakfast and an angry women appeared with my dad. She decided to shout at us about the night before - saying we were a disgrace and we are the reasons people are rioting in London - not too sure how the two get put together - we only woke them up at 1:30 in the morning. But the funniest thing was that she thought we were on a school trip and had a go at my dad saying he had to look after us better. We decided it was best not to bring up that David was a lawyer, Mitchell has his own pluming business, Sam was a primary school teacher and that I had just graduated with a degree in Econmics - but it would have been funny if we had.
So that morning we visited a spa - thermal pools which was nice and relaxing and fun because wer were talking about the morning event. After grabbing some lunch in the spas resturant we headed back to the hotel, where I took a lovely afternoon nap. It was another quiet eveing saving up for our final night in Iceland.
The penultimate day in Iceland had come - today we were trekking across a glacier and attempting (well - i attempted the rest succeded) Ice climbing. Walking across the glacier was absolutely amazing. Ice climbing was a terrible idea - hurt my knee - could climb - Rubbish!! lol - would have been good if I could do it!! lol!. Final night in Iceland. It was not that heavy I think we were all on our bes behavour - but it was a good ending to our trip. Although, David was leaving very early in the morning so I woke up at 5:30 to say bye to him.
The next morning we decided to split up the boys (Mitchell, George and DAd) went sea fishing and the girls (mum, sam and I) went to a spa for manicure, pedicures, massages etc. It was lovely after a fun filled week of strenous activing. After that we all headed to the airport.
This time I was off to Toronto for 1 night and the to Mexico for 7 weeks staying in Puerto Vallarta studying Spanish. There is so much to write about mexico - so this is just an over view.
I met some amazing people and made some more friendships for life (Shona, Paul, Danny, Nic, David, Abel, Kim, Mayra, Adriana, Tania - just to name a few oooo just for Adriana - how could I forget my novio fausto! hahaha). I did plently of partying - favorite clubs: Roo and Mandela (although Strana was good but it was also free). Best resturant/ cocktail place: Dos con todo. Cheapest cocktail place: Ocean bar. Increase in spanish fluency sober next to nothing. Increase in spanish fluency drunk: basically fluent. Increase in browness of skin: great. Main activites per week: involved diving, spanish learning, partying, sitting on the beach, going to the gym, attending dinners. Other activities included: a visit to Salyalita, Boat trip to see the whales, enjoyng mexican christmas traditions, teaching Shona and Tania to dive and more.
I absolutly loved Mexico, I am going back at the end of March for a year - so will be in the UK early March for 10 days to say hello and bye to everyone. Next stop Antigua to see the family for christmas and New years!!
ANTIGUA
Antigua as always - nice and hot with a cool breeze. Although I did not get to spend a lot of it in the sun as I had picked up a stomach bug somewhere along the line so spent a lot of days in the doctors clinic - not too much fun.
It was so nice to see my family and was for once looking forward to spend some time with them. Antigua was the same as always really - which most of you that are reading know about.
Just lots of sea, sun and sand. Food and alcohol (as always). Oh - and table tennis. So thats about all I have to say about Antigua - NEXT STOP night in NYC, night in LA then a 17hour plane journey to NZ.
From now on I will be writting on each place visited as before. I know this was a long read but it has been over 2 months since I last wrote - opps!!! NEXT STOP NEW ZEALAND!!!!!!
