Well I escaped from the retreat a day early, well 8 days early if you really want to know. Sitting cross legged and being quite really aren't my strong points! Although you could say that being drunk and crossed-eyed is something I know a thing or two about, so I've come to the right place.
Ko Phi Phi Don is just beauitful. The island is so chilled out and anything (and everything goes). There are no cars, everyone gets about on bikes but to be honest you could walk around the full island in less than a hour. The shops are amazing, you are spolit for choice when it comes to clothes. I plan on going shopping later although I'm not sure how I'll carry it as I already can't close or carry my backpack.
Since I've arrrived all I have done is sunbath during the day and party all through the night. I met up with a girl Jenny I met in Phuket, she is lovely. She looks a bit like Tessa (with a tan), speaks a bit like JenWild and drinks a lot like Laura. She is a class act.
We are staying in a hostel called The Rock which is something else. There are maybe 50/60 people in the hostel and everyone just hangs out together (outside my room, which maybe explains my lack of sleep). The rooms are so basic and I won't even start with the toilets and showers. Let's just say that pluming hasn't reached the island yet. Everyone is so lovely and once you get passed the typical travelier introudctions:
What's your name?
Where do you come from?
Where have you been?
Where are you going?
What age are you?
you end up just calling people by where they are from. So I've been answering to Scotland for the past few days.
During the day we just sunbath, yesterday we took a kayak to a tiny little beach. It was such good fun. We were in the middle of the ocean with nothing but open water around us and the water is so clar that you can see through it. The beach we went to was empty and we had it to ourselves for most of the afternoon. It was bliss!
However night is where the fun really starts and it begins with buckets.... buckets of alcohol which are buy 1 get 1 free in most bars. It really would be rude not too! The Phi Phi Don drink of choice is vodka/rum/whiskey with coke and red bull. Only it's Thailand red bull which is illegal everywhere else. After you have experience it, you understand why. To descript it as rocket fuel would be an understatment. Once you are suitability refreshed, you dance the night away on the beach and once the bars close it's back to the hostel for more drinking.
As much as I love it here I'm glad that it is only for a few days otherwise a new liver might be on the cards......
