Well everyone that`s me arrived in Tokyo and it is everything and nothing like I expected. I`ll explain.........
1. The people are amazing, everyone is so friendly and polite and go out their way to help you. The guidebooks tell you this but until you experience it, It's hard to believe.
2. The city is huge like really huge. Buildings that are 25/26 stories high sit beside ones that are 3 stories. Every building is a different shape and colour but it just works. Neon lights flash everywhere and the place is clean, like really clean. I would be confident eating off the street, although it has not come to that just yet!
3. The train/metro/skyline system of getting around the city is mental. Each train station is like an airport. In fact I have been in smaller airports than the train stations here. All the signs are in Japanese which meakes it really difficult to understand, and just when you think you have figured it out, you have to nagitave buying a ticket. I feel like I have eraned a Japanese passport and I've only used the system a handful of times. My usual fondness for taxi has been curded here, they are so expensive which brings me on to the next thing......
4. Money - everything costs a lot, like a horridness amount. Access the internet for 30 mintues costs 8 pounds. A bowl of noodles and an orange juice is 8 pounds. The train to/from the airport 40 pounds - you get the idea!
5. Tokyo is like a shoppers paradise! The clothes are amazing (if you are a size 0 and 3ft tall) and the make-up is to die for. See point 4 I won't be coming home with any!
6. Noodles. I love noodles, I do. Here there is noodle vending machines, everywheree.. Yes that's right inbetween the Coke and 7up you will find a cup of noodles. In the train stations, on the street, in the hotel and at the airport. And Japanese people just love their noodles so much so when they are eating them that make a noise and the more they are enjoying them the more noise they make but you know when in Japan it's rude not to join in.
Well since this is costing me about 2 pounds a word I'm signing off for now. I'm away to make a lot of noise eating noodles off the very clean streets.
Lots of Love
