27th September - 1st October
Just spent four nights in Palm Cove, nr Cairns
Palm cove... this was a great place to stay as it was handy for tours, most company's pick up from here. The apartments (Alassio) were ok in a good location and it was great having a hot tub on our balcony.
We had two trips booked and both were fab. Went to Green Island for the first and then on to the barrier reef. Wouldn't bother with Green Island again, it was really busy with day trippers and a waste of time. By the time we got our snorkelling gear on and in the water, it was time join the queue again to get back on the boat!
The reef was amazing but the pontoon was crammed with Japanese tourists. It was great in the water though snorkelling, we did have a scuba-doo tour booked but we both had colds so it wasn't recommended.
We saw a SHARK!! It actually swam under us!! Couldn't believe it, was very scary, been in open water with a SHARK! And no one else was around us. This was definitely the highlight, o and the chopper back, leaving all the crowds behind.
Day two, we went to Kuranda, rainforest station, the train and sky rail another early start, and this was well worth the trip. Loads to see and do, we even got chance to throw a boomerang?
Day three, had to go into Cairns as I left my sandals on Green Island, cant believe I managed to get them back, great adventures were very helpful. The bus ride took us an hour there and back from Palm Cove but at least I got them back and it gave us the opportunity to check out a few watering holes in Cairns!
Well just in business lounge drinking champers waiting for our flight back home, how time flys. We should be back into Manchester on Tues.
See you soon
