Cinque Terre!! 12/06/09-14/06/09
We arrived in the Cinque Terre from France, We had driven through Nice, Cannes and a small country called Monaco. This country has one city called Monte-Carlo and the whole country is run by a very rich family, lucky them! The water around it was home to many expensive super yachts and we could see quite a few mansions!! Continued driving into Italy then on to the motorway which was a view of tunnel, bridge, tunnel, bridge. We got to our campground near the village of Moneglia. The next day mum was sick so the rest of us headed down to the train station. Cinque Terre is a stretch of coastline with nice beaches and towering cliffs. 5 villages are set along this and are reachable only by train. A walking track joins all the villages. We took the train to Corneglia the middle village. The train station was at sea level but the village was up on a cliff after walking about a million steps we reached it. We had to pay to go on the walking track and then we headed off up a very steep track in 35-degree heat to Vernazza. We got there and went down and had a swim it was WONDERFUL. We met an American family so had lunch sitting on the rocks talking to them. Then we left and headed for Monterossa. We met a nice girl from Perth on the way she walked with us to the final village. We then parted and we went down to the beach for a long awaited swim!! We then took the train back to our camp. The next day mum was a bit better so she walked to the station with us then she went to the markets. We got the train to Riomaggorie it was really busy so we left quickly. Walking along to the next village was like walking on a street a paved path the whole way and many tour groups wandering along. We got to Manarola and had a nice swim then headed off again half way to Corneglia we stopped for lunch. As soon as we got there we jumped on a train and went back to camp. Spent the rest off the day swimming in the nice water below our campsite. Left for Pisa the next day.
