The nine hour flight was long, but surprisingly hassle-free. We arrived at midday Chicago time, which was 7 pm in Düsseldorf and although we were tired, we were full of excitement and more than happy to have Gerry give us a tour of all the wealthy suburbs north of the city. Through Glencoe, Wilmette and Winnetka, where I used to work, we marveled at all the beautiful houses. In the evening, we sat outside with cold beers, until exhaustion finally took over. We all slept like logs, waking to hear the thunder and heavy rain against the wood of the house. Even rain sounds different when you're on holiday!
Today we visited Gerry's family and the house I lived in when I moved here initially back in 2000, before heading in to the city for our tour with our very knowledgable guide! It's safe to say we are all very much in love with this fabulous city! And can't wait for further exploring!
