re: The Macarena...or was it Maracana?Donna I know - it has really made me question my drink options. Sticking to orange fanta, orange juice and water for now!
re: The Mini Shard Anniversary DinnerSam More exotic foods than you can shake a stick at. Football fix hopefully to come with Maracana stadium tour in Rio and a visit to a São Paulo FC match, as well as the museum at the Pacembau stadium in SP :-)
re: The journey back to São PauloSteve Sounds fabulous. Apart from the plane trips. That sounds annoying. Have you had unusual foods yet? Has Sam been trying to absorb the Brazilian football culture?...
re: The journey back to São PauloSam If you think I look a little portly in my poncho, this is due to the fact that I am carrying both my own backpack and Donna's valued Longchamp handbag underneath it. And is nothing to do with the local burrascerias who constantly bring you more food even when you have said "no more, I cannot eat another thing..." on several occasions.
re: Iguazu Falls (Brazil side)Sam Dear Mr Dorling and Mr Kindersley I am writing to ask why you consider the Itaipu Dam- the second biggest hydroelectric dam in the world and in terms of power per cubic metre of water the best- worthy of but half a sentence in your Brazil guide book. And this is only when explaining why the nearby city Foz do Iguazu experienced a population surge from the 1970s. The dam is a most incredible feat of engineering and is a tourist hotspot- guided tours of the dam are a must. However this is no thanks to your guidebook which doesn't even mention it! We are just lucky that I came across a list of mega-dams on Facebook a few months ago, read about the Itaipu, and then happened to remember it when I saw a road sign to Itaipu the other day. And after I had to phone up Amazon in desperation to get your book delivered in time before we left. Don't know why I bothered. Yours Sam Oliver
