Got up earlyish and had breakfast in the Club Lounge. Only a continental breakfast which was not what I'd been hoping for. Got ready and met the rest of the group in the foyer before walking 10 minutes or so to the Centrepoint Tower.
We had been booked in for a Skywalk at the top of the tower which involved walking around the outside of the tower and out onto a couple of transparent platforms which then moved further out over the street. I wasn't sure how this would go but decided I'd go ahead and do it. Only one of our group of eight decided against it.
The Skywalk began with a briefing and we were all tested for alcohol levels. If you are over 0.05% you can't go up to the top. I passed!
We then had to get dressed in coverall and put all our belongings in a locker. No rings, watches or anything like that were allowed but you could take your sunglasses as long as you used one of their cords to tie them to the back of your coveralls.
The final step was getting the safety harnesses and radios set up so we could hear what the guide had to say during the walk. Once we were all right to go we walked out in single file attached to a rail that ran around the walk path.
Once out there it was brilliant. A clear day and excellent views of Sydney and surrounds. Our group had a photo or ten taken out on the larger platform which they sold to you when you returned from the walk as no cameras allowed up there. Photos were expensive but we all grouped together and managed to get them a little cheaper.
This was the second last of these Skywalks we were told. The company running them is going to make them shorter once they recommence so I guess we were lucky to have the opporunity to spend so much time up there.
After the walk we got changed again and went off in search of lunch. After lunch we caught the monorail down to Haymarket and decided to look for shorts to wear in the pool at Paddy's Market. Found what we wanted and then caught the monorail back to the Centrepoint tower before walking back to the hotel to spend the rest of the afternoon in the pool/spa.
Had a few drinks in the Club Lounge that evening then went back to one of the rooms for a few more drinks before looking for something for dinner. Everything was either closing down or closed at 9pm on a Saturday night which was odd. As we had eaten a bit in the Club Lounge we grabbed a snack before returning to the hotel for a few more drinks.
